A keen conservationist and naturalist. In 'Enchanted Forest Series' I'm inspired by the plants, trees and bird life of our lands. The special force of the forest is our animals who add movement and sound. They are incredibly beautiful, making the forest come alive with their vibrant energy. My aim is to make people aware of there uniqueness and of the dangers of extinction of these creatures. I draw on their shape and beauty of their colour, as if there is some sort of spirtual energy coming out from within them.
The 'Kakapo' is a great example of this. Only coming out at night and in this painting 'Kakapo Full Moon' I convey the beautiful qualities of this majestic creature. Displaying their feathers and wingspan in the beauty of the night. Against the strong light of the fullmoon, in the depths of the forest. Amongst the flora and fauna of the forest floor.
How precious these birds are and how little of them are left in the wild. We indeed need to look them.
